Tribute to John “Mac” McQuown, long-time member of the GCFP Advisory Board
By
We at the Golub Center were saddened to learn about the passing of John “Mac” McQuown last month. Since the early days of the GCFP, Mac was part of our Advisory Board. In this role, he always offered great insights on how the GCFP could connect academics and practitioners to address current issues in financial policy. In recent years, Mac’s passion was around the environment and thus was an inspiration for our 2020 annual conference on Financial Policy and the Environment. Of course, Mac will always be remembered for his role in starting the indexed fund market, now the predominant asset class used for retirement savings in the US. A tribute to Mac that highlights this achievement, among others, was published in the Financial Times.
